Biography:
Akif Albayrak, who was born in Sakarya in 1980, graduated from Uludag University Medical Faculty in 2005. Immediately after graduation, he started his orthopedics residency at Baltalimani Bone Hospital and became a specialist doctor in 2010. Between 2010-2016, he completed his mandatory service as a Chief Assistant at Baltalimani Bone Hospital and earned the title of Associate Professor in 2016. He worked at the same hospital in the 1st Orthopedics Clinic under the University of Health Sciences as an Associate Professor and Instructor until 2020.
In 2011, he worked as a clinical fellow with Prof. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu at the Istanbul Spine Center for 3 months. In 2017, he worked as an Observer Fellow with Prof. Dr. Frank Schwab at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) with a scholarship from the Turkish Spine Society. He passed the orthopedic board exam in 2012 and became a member of TOTEK. In 2014, he passed the spine examination conducted by the Turkish Spine Society (TOD) and received the Spine Competency Certificate. He is a member of TOD, TOTBID, TOTDER, and AO Spine and served on the TOTBID Young Specialist Executive Board from 2014-2015. He served as the general secretary of the Istanbul Orthopedics Meeting Congress organized in 2015. He has published 31 articles in international journals, 40 in national journals, presented at 18 international congresses, and more than 50 national congresses. He is on the editorial board of 3 international and 1 national journal and has edited the spine sections of 2 spine and Bone Joint Society Orthopedics books under the Turkish Spine Society.
In 2020, he left his position at MS Baltalimani Bone HEAH and opened his private clinic at Fulya Vital Plaza, where he continues to practice medicine. During middle and high school, he played licensed basketball at Izmit DSİ Sports Club, achieving provincial and regional rankings in the youth and junior categories. He also played for the Medical Faculty Basketball Team during university, achieving inter-faculty rankings. Since 2018, he has been participating in amateur enduro motorcycling under the European Nature and Motorsports Association, competing in national and international races. He completed the Kemer Seatosky International Enduro Race with a bronze medal in 2021 and 2023. He currently sees his patients at his private clinic in Vital Fulya Plaza.
